Finicky Fish vs Tuesday
Message:
Wednesday I decided to stay at the boat ramp. Low tide was around 2:55pm. Winds were light and variable, skies were overcast, and air was moist with temps in the lower 60s. Arrived around 2:30pm. Lures I threw included silver blue SP-9, stainless steel gold mullet SSP-9, holographic blue SW-8, shad SSR-9, blue sardine SXR-10, purple shad XRW-9, and pearl grey shiner FLR-10. I ended up getting more swirls and flashes than explosions. Hooked into 7 schoolies all on topwater but lost 1. Landed 2 on the XRW-9, 1 on the SSP-9, and 2 on the SP-9. The local who was with me Tuesday was hitting one after another while steadily bouncing soft plastics on the bottom. When the water got calm and flat later towards 4:30pm is when the XRW-9 got active. Slower, quieter topwater retrieve with just enough rattle, buzzing, and/or wake was the ticket. Just before hitting the road around 6:30pm, I saw what was probably either gator blues or albies speeding into Black Rock Harbor just under the surface leaving a wake with waves. No splashing was seen.
