Quick trip on the incoming, nothing so far, just wanted to see if they were around. It is still a bit early, but those things are so unpredictable...

So, the herring run with the stripers? Since I started fishing for stripers in the last two years, the only other fish I've boated have been a couple of white perch. How do you fish for herring? What do you throw?

To fish for Sea Herring all you need is a Sabiki rig. Just attach one of those ball weights to the bottom (I usually use 1/2 ounce depending on the current) and just cast and jig it in. If there's a strong current where you're fishing you don't even have to do much reeling, just cast the rig out and the only retrieving you'll do with a sabiki in a strong current would just to keep tension on the line, the current will do most of the work.
