Tried Again
Message:
Friday afternoon I hit the local discharge. Arrived around 2:30pm for the mid tide. Setup was a 7' Okuma Tarvos/Fierce 2000/Spiderwire Stealth 10 pound. Threw the Clackin Minnows and Saltwater X-Rap again and also tried bottom bouncing a 1/2 ounce chartreuse bucktail. Even played around with a chartreuse ghost X-Rap Walk XRW-9 as a pencil popper. Like it has been, the only lure that saw attention was the spotted minnow SXR-10. On the payse, a striper that looked to be about 18" came up and hit it before going back down. That was right around the mid tide period of the outgoing in the same area that I caught the 14"er. Herring were making their way in and out for a while as tide got lower but never got into anymore stripers. A loon was the only one feeding. Hit the road just after 5:30pm.

Michael, how did you know there were herring, was anyone there jigging for them?

I was the only one there but could tell they were herring because of what I saw a few times in the loon's mouth. Occasionally I'd see those pods of small swirls and waves on the surface come in and then head back out as if it was baitfish cruising just under the surface.
