help with water pump

hi all, i want to get my water pump changed on my johnson 40 but can't really afford what the shop is charging. and not sure when it was changed last.
is there someone that knows how to change a pump and is willing to help ........just want to learn how to do it. i ill be buying the pump parts and will be paying you. i live in southington so surrounding towns would be ok, willing to travel alittle.
