Southern Middlesex County Pond 4/6

My brother and I decided to take the kayaks out this morning to a small pond that neither of us had put much time into. We got out on the water about 8:30, air temperature was 35, wind was pretty steady, gusty at times, bluebird skies, all the makings of an awful day of fishing. But we decided to tough it out. We paddled around for a while surveying depth and structure, and water temperature (between 46-49) and throwing some chatterbaits and crankbaits. Couldn't get anything to happen. The shoreline across the pond was looking nice, so we decided to give it a shot. The whole edge was covered with brush piles and lay downs. I decided to tie on a 3/8oz black and blue jig with a Yum crawfish trailer. About three casts later, I get my first fish, it was a dink. But, it gave us a hint as to what to look for. Jigs on laydowns... My brother switched to a jig and 2 minutes later he hooks up. A while goes by and no action, we decide to head further down the shoreline. Threw a cast into a brush pile, and then, *thud*, I set the hook. Not a lot of fish, but the quality of the fish far surpassed expectations.
