Beat the Skunk
Message:
A buddy I've gotten to know through the TMA honey hole and his bro and I hit the outgoing at Short Beach Thursday evening.
Buddy's setup was a 7'6" Tsunami Airwave/Penn Fierce 3000/10 pound braid. Mine was a 7' Star Rods Aerial Jetty/Surf/Penn Fierce 3000/10 pound Sufix Tritanium. Buddy's bro's was a 7'6" Penn Fierce combo with braid.
We threw a number of lures but didn't get into much.
I beat the skunk with a chrome FLR-10 and lost a fish on the same lure. Buddy's bro beat the skunk and lost a fish with a silver Original Floater F-13. Buddy got skunked and lost a fish on a silver blue SXR-10.
Each of us tried throwing some bigger plugs, such as a Bomber Long A, MXR-15, and SP Minnow but didn't get any hits with those.
Both fish landed were 16". Fish I lost just after sunset felt like it had weight and took me into the current when I lost it.
Water level was about normal and flow was normal. Water was a bit murky with many leaves and branches flowing down.
Total time put in was about an hour and a half.
