Site member ny to ct (aka Chris) and I hit the bird sanctuary on the Housy early Saturday morning til bout 9:30am. We arrived about 5:15am and fished for close to 4 hours or so. I was using my 8 footer this time and throwing bigger plugs mostly. As the tide kept going out and it was still dark out, I landed a schoolie and lost a keeper that seemed about 30". Both were on the legendary pearl grey shiner Flat Rap FLR-16. Chris wasn't into anything yet as he threw the SP Minnow and some other plugs. Later once the sun came out it turned into a small lure schoolie game, so I threw a chrome FLR-10 while Chris kept playing with a number of lures. Chris eventually caught a schoolie with a pearl Storm Shad, which seamed to be his lure. Both of us also tried throwing topwater just as the sun came out but there was no topwater bite. Total was Chris 3 and me 5 with fishing all being under 20". The only signs of bait we saw were what looking like small alewives or shad.
