If you were to put a motor on your canoe, you'd have to register it with the DMV. In order to operate it, you'd need a Safe Boater or Personal Watercraft Certification on your Conservation License (aka fishing or hunting license). Yes, you have to pay for your privileges. Welcome to the State of Connecticut!
