Batterson Park Pond 05/09
Message:
After wussing out on fishing Batterson Park Pond, yesterday, I fished it, today. I got on the water at 11:45 am in my kayak, El Habaņero. The air temperature was in the mid to upper 50s and the sky was totally overcast. There was only a slight breeze blowing from the east. I decided to throw a wacky-rigged Senko and headed for the southwest corner, where storm runoff flows into the pond. I was surprised by the lack of action as I approached the inflow. In the Summer, I've pulled more than a dozen cookie cutters out of there. It wasn't until I paddled as far back as I could that I finally got a hit. And it was worth the 20 minute wait:

Now, THAT's what I like to see! It was 22 inches long and weighed 4-3/4 pounds:

Whoo Hoo! :D The rest of my time on the water wasn't nearly exciting, but I managed to boat 10 more largemouth bass ranging from 10 to 16 inches long. Unfortunately, the last fish I boated before I headed off of the water at 4:45 pm was this one:

Although a light mist started to fall at the end, I enjoyed a really nice, calm afternoon on the water. And now I feel like less of a lazy a$$. 8)

Nice job Phil!
Weird how for this time of year that lunker isn't too chubby.
And happy to see a rock bass pic from Batterson finally!
