Subject:
Monday vs Tuesday Conditions & Bite
Message:
Tuesday I headed back down to the city boat ramp and arrived around 2pm. Brought the 7'6" Inferno setup and limited myself on lures with most being topwater and a DTFAT-1 wake bait. Things didn't start picking up until the tide turned and clouds started moving in. That's when I started getting good action with the SP-9 and others were hitting schoolies on lures such as a 3" Atoms, 3" Creek Chub, and 4" Yo Zuri. The guy throwing the Redfin like Monday wasn't getting any takers on it this time but had a number of big swirls behind it. Once the clouds left and sun got strong again we weren't into the action we were in but still a few more as the evening went on. My total on the SP-9 was 7. 2 were nice fighting 26" and 24", with the 24" fish being pretty chubby as if it was a pregnant female. Even though I landed 7 this time, all of us weren't getting the swirls and explosions we were getting Monday and today's retrieve required longer pauses on the surface. The issue seemed to be how much sun there was vs the overcast conditions and lingering showers Monday. Bait I saw along the rocks as the tide got higher was fry of some type of baitfish. Conditions look more favorable for a good striper bite Wednesday vs today.

Michael, thanks for the great report. Gonna head down to Capt Cove today around 5pm and try throwin a few casts. It'll be interesting with the full moon and low around 5:30, but who knows! You say topwater is getting the most action?
