Sunday afternoon I hit Seaside Park. Arrived at the city boat ramp at 12:10pm and high for Black Rock Harbor was scheduled for 2:58pm. There was a gusty north wind that made things hard and annoying and not favorable for a good bite. 3 lures I tried throwing were the shad SP-9, pearl grey shiner FLR-10, and chartreuse ghost XRW-9 but never had any swirls, hits, or explosions. Was picking up lots of weeds with the FLR-10. Seeing I wasn't getting any action and the north winds were so ri-DIC-u-lous, I headed over to the Fayerweather jetty and tried casting towards the sandy flats on the beach side but nada. I then headed over to the southern end of Fayerweather Island as the tide was still coming in and casted out from the rocky area but nada. Next I went to check out Remington right as the tide was turning. I started off at the sandy flats by the old beach but nada. I then went to the rocks at Remington but still nothing. There was a large crowd of chummers at Remington but they weren't getting any hits. Last stop was Breezy Point where I noticed terns working out by the breakwater. That's when the 2 buddies who I've been seeing with their kayaks arrived and told them to come over. 1 other guy arrived with his topwaters too. I played with all 3 lures I had been throwing. 1 of the buddies threw a bone Zara Spook. The other one threw a Knucklehead Jr. The second guy to come threw a 1 1/2 ounce wooden popper. The Zara spook was the first to get an explosion right near shore. Later is when I get an explosion on the XRW-9. I then get a hit on the FLR-10. The Creek Chub got a few swirls, 1 miss, and landed a 21"er. Once the tide had gotten much lower and the terns weren't as active, I hit the road around 5:45pm to get the last bus of the evening and was also hungry.
