While I was fishing and not having any luck at the city boat ramp, a local Seaside Park buddy called me offering me a ride on his boat so we could get some fishing done. I met him at the Seaview Ave launch and we were on the water by 5pm.
We covered areas stretching from Pleasure Beach to Black Rock Harbor.
I stuck with the SP-9 mostly as I also tried throwing the FLR-10 and XRW-11.
The buddy threw a number of topwaters and also tried casting with a Danny and SP Minnow.
I was the first to get an explosion followed by a swirl.
My buddy later landed a 17" schoolie on a Zara Spook.
We were seeing bunker around so the buddy tried snagging. He was able to snag a total of 3 with 2 eventually coming off the hook. The third one never got a hit but would come flapping on the surface often with suspicious swirls occasionally.
I landed a 22" schoolie that gave me a great fight for its size on 30 pound braid.
The buddy missed out on what had to be a keeper while throwing a larger Creek Chub. He had a monstrous explosion but missed it.
Our last stop caught me a dinky 14"er on the SP-9.
We were back at the launch around 8:15pm.
