Beat the Skunk

Arrived at the city boat ramp right as the tide was beginning to head out Monday afternoon. Had my 7'6" setup with me and lighter lures.
Didn't have any luck at the boat ramp no matter what I threw. Saw 1 chummer there who was throwing mackerel and had landed 1 sea robin and a small schoolie.
Next I headed over to the Fayerweather jetty. Started by casting in towards the beach with the FLR-10, SSP-9, and XRW-9 but nada. Switched sides facing the honey hole that got me the 6 pound tailor and 29" keeper. After a few casts with the SSP-9 I get 2 swirls and then BAM! Fight was on with the 10 pound Fireline and 7'6" MH freshwater rod. Landed a 22" 5 pound tailor.
The tide had started getting too low to be standing up on the jetty so I headed over to Breezy Point. Once I had gotten to Breezy Point the south and west winds had picked up causing the lures to be blown to my left and a surface current pushing in towards shore making it not favorable for topwater. Tried throwing the FLR-10, purpledescent SSR-9, and tennessee olive shad CNM-9 but no fluke or sea robins.
Last stop was back to the ramp but never had any luck. Ran into a buddy there who tried throwing a number of topwaters with 2 being certain ones that always get attention if there's fish but he didn't get a single swirl. Bunker seemed to have been chased or by the bigger fish or swept out by the recent rains.
Hit the road around 7pm
