Good Summer action at little 'ol Crystal Lake in Ellington
Message:
Went out on Dave's boat on Crystal Lake in Ellington after work until 7:30. We anchored half way between the public boat launch and the public beach so it was about 40-45 feet deep. The fish finder showed most of the fish right at the thermocline (30 feet) and the surface temp was 77. We used eighth ounce jig heads and 3 inch plastics retrieving VERY slowly. We scored two rainbows and got entertained by my 3 pound small mouth getting airborne, then diving 20 feet. What a blast! The water skiers were out 2 or 3 at a time, but they were pretty considerate and they didn't seem to affect the fishing 30 feet down. So get out there, they're hitting, and its gonna be a gorgeous weekend! 8)
