SLOW
Message:
Monday I headed out to the city ramp arriving just before 2pm. Winds were a steady 8 to 12 mph southwest and tide was low at 3:46pm.
As the afternoon went on I worked my way from the ramp to the rocks to Fayerweather Island and back but it was very slow.
I only ended up catching a 10" snapper on a purpledescent FLR-10. I threw a number of plugs and topwaters but no other hits or followers. I even tried casting into the calmer waters farther inside Black Rock Harbor and an area at Fayerweather Island by throwing a number of topwaters but never got a swirl or explosion.
Hit the road just before 6:30pm
I was seeing lots of small bait right near shore but never saw any signs of it being chased unless by lure went over them.
Southwest winds got wicked once the tide was coming in! Waves up to a foot were crashing ashore hard and fast wherever there wasn't enough protection from the wind.

Michael do you ever venture to the mouth of the CT river?
I appreciate all your post. I've been reading for a while and am always thankful to read your post.
I was having similar luck last year. It took an epic charter boat day on the Hel-Cat2 to break the string of bad luck.
Just sayin :D

I don't have a car, otherwise I'd be fishing more places more often.
