Checked it out
Message:
Friday I headed out to Mondo Pond to see what the place looked like.
I arrived in the later afternoon early evening to find a large area where Beaver Brook feeds in to be all open. Everywhere else was 2 to 4" of weak ice with certain patches looking like solid 7" strong ice.
Checked out the smaller pond but only saw a small area of open water at the usual November crappie and pickerel spot. Everywhere else was solid.
Saw the marshy shallow pond between 95 and the train tracks was totally opened.
Tried casting a HJ-6, an inline, and some topwaters in certain areas that were open at Mondo but was surprised to never get a pickerel, crappie, or yellow to swipe the HJ-6.
Next week after this coming rain is when I'll be checking it out again.
