Different Bite @ Mondo 5/22
Message:
Friday I arrived at Mondo around 2:15. Limited myself on lures after the day I had Wednesday.
Topwater wasn't on like it was Wednesday, probably due to how gusty the winds were and possibly a high pressure. I landed a few pickerel on a Baby Torpedo with the same retrieve as last time.
2 lures that had largemouths and pickerel going more this time were glass minnow HJ-6 and a custom made pearl white body & blade Rooster Tail style spinner. Some pickerel were interested in a "1 jerk per second" retrieve with the HJ-6. The HJ-6 also caught me a few crappie and an 11" 9 ounce yellow. Crappie hit the lure on a longer pause or if I gave it a few very light twitches as I slowly reeled before pausing.
Total was 6 pickerel, 5 largemouths, 4 crappie, 3 bluegills, and 1 yellow perch. The yellow perch is the biggest one I've ever caught from Mondo, and is what many would say big for Mondo.

Forgot to mention that a big difference between Friday and Wednesday was the hatch. Friday was when I should have had OFF! on.
Another way I could tell there's been a big insect hatch was bats and common nighthawks started feeding just after sunset along with the swallows.
