Crappie

Wednesday I headed out to Mondo Ponds. Wasn't sure if there was gonna be lots of ice or if Tuesday's rain and high humidity got rid of whatever had formed. Arrived around 2:15 to find the main pond mostly covered with very, very skim gray ice and the smaller pond to have that same ice on the upper shore with the rest being thicker grayish white ice. I stuck with the Helsinki shad HJ-6 as I covered any accessible open water spots. 1 spot was where I lost a bluegill. Another spot was being productive, resulting in a 15" 1 pound pickerel and 6 crappie around 8". Had a number of other crappie come shooting up for the Husky Jerk before going back down. Headed back to the bike around 4:45. Between Thursday's sun and Friday's temps, ice should get just a bit thicker, before melting this weekend, with temps nearing 50 Saturday, Sunday, and Monday.
