Lake Housatonic 5/8
Message:
Site member Rookie (John) invited me out onto his boat to fish Lake Housatonic. We launched from Indian Wells around noon. Started by checking out shallows where there was lots of branches and limbs in the water. Both of us were having luck with a HJ-6. John landed 3 small largemouths, a cookie cutter smallie, a nice bullgill, and a number of yellows, with 1 yellow coming on a sinking swimmer. The yellow on the swimmer was just under a pound. I caught 4 yellows, 1 redbreast, 1 bullgill, and a 15" smallie just over a pound. John wanted to check out certain spots farther up river, so we headed up. By the time we got near Pink House Cove, northwest winds had gotten ridiculous! There was also a strong current coming from the dam farther up. Later we headed back down to hit a few other spots and then back to the shallows where we were hitting the fish earlier, but the wind and high pressure shut the bite down. Headed back to the ramp just after 3.
