Tav1, I have a jon boat I use for kicking around small ponds etc. I used a product called Loctite Brushable Ceramic, comes in Grey, White, Blue and Black. It's not cheap but it will bond to the bottom and it well protect the bottom from rocks etc. In the long run it will be cheaper because you won't have to paint every year. To give you an idea how strong this stuff is, I use it on the bottom of my mower deck for the passed four years and no chips or rust yet. Ron

Tav1 if you paint the bottom of your boat make sure you prep it, clean bottom with acetone, lightly scuff it up with a scotch bright pad then wipe it with acetone again, ive done it with rustoleum from Home Depot and got 3 hard years out of it ,I then sold the boat. If you dont prep it, you will have a bad peeling problen, like a banana. Make sure you use the oil rustoleum
