Coventry Lake Tourney 5-12-07
Message:
My CT Federation club had a tourney on Coventry today 7am - 3pm. I started the day of by losing a fish around 2-3lbs on a jig. Catch one a spider grub and break of a nice fish on a jig. I caught 4 more by 10:30 on jerk baits and tubes in 5-8 ft of water. I had a quick limit but all of my fish were 12 1/2" squeakers except one smallie around 2lbs so I decided to go back to the jig around 1:30 pm to look for some bigger fish. First cast on the jig I hook a fish that looks to be 3+. AGAIN I lose it at the boat. :x . I have NEVER lost that many fish on a jig. Just wasn't my lucky day. That would be the last keeper I would see for before weigh in. I thought for sure I was going to come in towards the bottom of the pack but after it was all said and done I took first with 5.64 and lunker with a 1.89 smallie. I think some of the smaller fish need to be harvested out of this lake. I have never caught so many 12" fish before. It wasn't a very impressive win but I will take it.

Chuck, A win is a win! Nice going. I've only fished Coventry once, and didn't do very well. Congrats on the victory!

Congrats on the win. I agree that there are too many "squeakers" in that lake.
