Drove into the ramp thinking I'd be lucky to find a space, only to find an empty lot. Started fishing by 6:30 and found bait riseing at 7. Saw a perch that was dieing with a fungess so I put a crankbait on with the same color and landed a crappie. Took the skunk off the Lund right quick. Threw jigs, fluke and tubes but a watermelon salt stiock caught my first bass. Pattern seem to be shallow of the bank with a sharp drop off. Kept at it and got 5 more for the day with the crappie. Nothing bigger than 1 1/2 lb, but thats fine seeing as I was skunked the two weeks before. Could have been in a tourney, but it seems when I spend the money lately, I don't get as many fish. Called it quits by noon and went next door to Rovers Lodge for a beer. Nothing has changed in 30 years since I was last there except no more Hulls beer. Great time with water temps at 57. They will be bedding soon.

Well at least you weren't installing door locks. Maybe this week end.

I was at Besek in the afternoon. You did better in the morning than we did later in the afternoon.
My brother and nephew wanted to fish.
I had planned on Bantam but Chuck told me there was a tourney there.
Figured there would be no parking left when we'd show up so I decided on Besek thinking not many boats would be there on and after opening day.
Also my nephew's a little afraid of the boat when it comes up on plane and with Besek only 113 acres and a 8 mph limit (which a number of other boaters ignored and waked us pretty good) we didn't have it on plane all day.
On the water at 1:00 off at 6:25.
Water temps high 50's (57-59).
Bluebird skies 8-(
Good wind blowing from the dam and around to the draining end.
Caught a small 1.5# bass on the first cast and the 1st cast / catch jinx held up. Only keeper all day.
Came on a single spin off (perch color) around some shallow rocks in about 5-6' of water opposite the ramp and down a little towards the drains.
After I hooked it I had my nephew reel it in. He loved it!
That made the trip worth it!
