I need your input

Ok you old salts. I need your input.
I grow up on Long Island and surfcasted with my old man for many years.
I moved to CT and haven't surfcasted in 20 years.
This weekend me and a group of guys from the fire house are going surfcasting..
I cleaned up my very old 12' surf rod and cleaned my penn 700 and now I need some line.
Years ago my Dad and I use 20lb Mono because thats all there was, Now there is so many choices.
What do you suggest for surfcasting line?
Thanks.

If you are going surf casting locally (in ct) leave the 12 footer home and break out a med action 7' spining outfit w/10 to 15# mono or braid on it. The fish are running on the smaller side right now 1-10lbs. If you are going back to the island where the fish may be on the larger side 50# power pro is the way to go. It casts a mile and has the same diameter of 20# mono.

Quint seemed to forget that even with all the smaller fish around there is the occasional bruiser ready to strike.
If you have a med or Med/Heavy 7 foot spinning or Baitcaster that will be sufficient,10-15lb Braid.
Bucktails, grubs or sandworms your best bet for now.[img:0e6b595e86]http://www.ctfishtalk.com/gallery2.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=3481[/img:0e6b595e86]
