Oh Baby! (country boy hits cabelas)

So, although you pro guys out there down on Cabelas in East Hartford for not having the selection you need (and I guess if you're looking for everything you might be right to), Marc and I made it out there on sunday and I was duly impressed! I will, as I said to marc, point out though that the whole place is hugely depressing. When you think about what P&W accomplished at that airfield, and to see the runways falling back to the earth along with a football stadium and a beacon to consumerism, it's really very sad... BUT Now, onto the high points! Marc and I made the mistake of checking out the fishtanks BEFORE buying equipment...We walked out and I said to him "So, I don't know about you, but I'm ready to buy every possible thing in here." I ended up coming out with a seasons worth of plastics, hooks, and associated stuff, along with a couple new lures, but by far I am most excited about the new setup I picked up, consisting of a St. Croix mid-lite 6'6" spinning rod and a shiny new Daiwa Tierra. It's served me well, and chances are I'll end up using it, but I'm excited to see how the Suffix Siege Works out. I will admit on the shortage of rods, I was looking for a shimano Crucial rod, on your reccomendation but I couldn't find any in the weight/length that I wanted. I'm also in love with my St. Croix UL pole, so it was an easy sale. I was thinking about the new shimano Stradic Reel as well, but I couldn't really tell the difference personally between the Stradic and the Tierra, and as I'm not into tournament fishing, I couldn't justify the price difference. Either way, I'm glad we made it out there, and I'll report on the new equipment as I hopefully start to catch some fish on it!
