Subject:
Lakeville, Falls Village - a few spots
Message:
so i finally took a day to myself and did some fishing. first i hit this tiny little pond near my house. They recently stocked it with some trout, thought i would give it a shot. I rarely trout fish... I used a mepps inline spinner and ended up hooking into 2 rainbows. Both were about 10-12 inches.
from there i headed off to the housatonic river in falls village. First i hit the pull off spot right past the high school on warren turnpike. I had a couple of smallies look at a zoom lizard magnum, but they were not that hungry i guess.
tried throwing a bunch of other lures, but nothin out there hitting... on to the next spot.... on Rt 7 in falls village there is a pull off right near this old gas station right before the high school. got down to the usual spot i hit right there and threw the lizard again... nice pike comes up... follows the lizard in, hits it... swims away with it, and i set the hook lightly... line snaps! those teeth!!!
(no leader) oh well! atleast it wasnt a lucky craft
so i bailed from there and hit an ore bed in lakeville right near NY state border... hooked into 3-4 largies all ranging from 1- 1.5 lbs on lizard.
then decided it was a good time to practice the jig and pig. (black and purple)
got the biggest of the day 2nd cast. 3.2 lbs on rapala digital scale. Man! im really lovin the jig and pig... just takes practice... after that got a few more on the jig and pig and headed home.
all in all, it wasnt an amazing day, but it sure was nice out and it was good to get away for awhile. my camera's batteries were dead so sorry no pics... thats probably the only reason why i actually did catch something today :D :D
