Upper Hous -- 5-18-08

Hit the Hous yesterday in the rain. I don't know whats wrong with me. Fished the outlet to the powerplant in FV as usual and managed to pull in a pretty nasty pickerel that was small pike sized, probably going about 4-5 pounds of pissed off. The smallie bite hasn't been on there much in the past few days and I'm wondering if they haven't moved off somewhere else, so I'm going to have to go back to searching for them. After a dink smallie and a crappie that was more an annoyance than anything else (Really, on a 4" tube I catch a 6" Fish) I decided to switch spots. I knew it was sunday but I figured with the rain, Cornwall Bridge would be pretty empty, so I headed down there to find a canoe/kayak convention just wrapping up. I consider one car in the lot "busy" It was PACKED, and they had portapotties! But, at least they were all leaving, and pretty soon I had the river to myself to not catch anything! I got one decent smallie on a senko pulling out of the current, but he threw the hook on a pretty good aerial display. All in all, the fish are in there, but I never seem to remember that fishing in the rain is just generally not enjoyable. I got home to find a tick lodged in me in a rather..erm...unfortunate spot. So, all in all, I got a few, but for the frustration I shoulda stayed home. Sorry for no pictures, didn't want to pull out the camera in the rain! Here's to hoping for better luck next time.
