Crystal Lake - 6/6 & 6/8
Message:
I've continued to head over to Crystal since I've been having pretty good success. Fished after work on 6/6 from 6:00pm-9:00pm. Ended up with four LMBs total, all around 1.5 to 2lbs. Quite a chilly night with the overcast/fog skies, especially compared to the past few days. On 6/8, I was on the water around 5:15am and left around 1:00pm. I caught about 8 LMBs and my wife got in on the action and caught two - 1 LMB/1 smallmouth. Almost all of the action was on a dropshot with one early on a jig and one late on a shakyhead. We both lost a few fish on the dropshot when they jumped out of the water. The fish were biting even near noon with the water skiers in fairly close proximity and the bright sun. I will say that they seemed to be very sensitive to the line thickness. They more readily bit the dropshot on the 6lbs floro versus 8lbs floro. Surprised that made a difference. Water temps were up to 72 when I left yesterday and I can imagine they'll be way higher by the end of the heat wave. I'll have to try a different lake one of these days but I can't pass up the combination of success I've had and the proximity to my house (especially with gas prices)
