Crystal Lake (Ellington) 6/14

ShortyPowers was nice enough to let me tag along on his boat Saturday morning. We got on the water about 5am and just drifted with the wind. Water was about 73-75 and the air was probably 65. We fished about in water 4-2o ft. I stayed with the senkos and he switched between senkos, dropshot and something else he'll have to chime in on. Powers started the day off with a pickerel that I didn't even know was in the lake. Just after asking if there were any small mouths in there I caught one and later lost a LG at the boat. Bass were pretty inactive but the trout were very active that morning. Not bad...3 species in a couple hours :) He stayed on the lake a little longer and will have to fill in the ending or correct me.
I went again last night in the canoe and Dad and I each picked up 1.5 lb LGs
I was happy to see that the lake was a lot cleaner than I remember it as a kid.
Oh and FYI on Sunday afternoons.... after 3:00pm the speed limit goes from 6mph to 45 mph so being in a canoe wasn't the greatest with water skiers and tubers. Just something to remember for next time.

Not a good day of fishing for me but I had a good time. Only ended up with a 2lbs largemouth around noon on top of the pickerel. I wasn't patient enough and probably switched lures and spots too much.
Definitely a nice day weather wise though and surprisingly little skier traffic until about 1pm.
Water temps ended up at near 77-78, when I left at 1pm.

Went out on sat 6-14 not knowing what to expect from the lake. We caught a ton of fish. Most fish caught from 4-8 fow. We caught 47 fish total with a few runt smallies mixed in. Big fish was 5.1 largie. The trout were everywhere too. Nice little lake fun to fish with non stop action.
