Mudge and Indian -- 5-16-06
Message:
I managed to get out for a couple hours, just after the rain up here, fished the rest in light drizzle. It was really very nice out, no wind at all. Pulled 1 bass out of mudge and 2 pickerel out of Indian. Had a bunch more hits and etc. at indian, but fewer connections. All were taken on the houdini shad I had prerigged on the line. Too lazy to switch lures tonight, just enjoying being out for one day without the wind.
Further confirmation that that Berkley Vanish Transition Line SUCKS -- Got a little tanged on reeds near the shore when a fish took the lure and ran for em. Fish got off the line and as I was trying to free myself just zing and a broken line. Never woulda had it with mono. On top of it, one of the pickerel I got Chomped thru the line at one point and jumped on me. I thought he had just thrown the lure as it dropped to my feet. I picked up the plastic to discover that the hook was gone. Looking at the pickerel that was recovering right near where he'd dropped in the water, sure enough, shiny red hook, still right through his mouth. I HATE DOING THAT.
This line is going in the garbage.

Yeah, its been crazy windy this spring, almost every day theres some kind of wind. Lowers my motivation to plan a after work boat extravaganza
I usualy hit mudge up atleast once a year. Every time i go there i swear ill never go back. Its not the fishing, its the ride to get there. Its not as far as the ride makes it seem.

you guys who come up here to fish and want to try something different, Might I suggest Mt. Riga? Personally never been fishing there myself, and I'm not sure the launch situation, but I know there's a launch there. Its another ore-bed lake, very deep and clear. I'd assume lake trout, etc. It's very good sized. Right up in Salisbury.
