Got a late start fished the last 2 hours of the outgoing, slack and the first 2 hours of the incoming. Southwest reef - Landed 6 small bass 24-30", on diamonds - no blues. The bass were feeding on squid. The bass were not on the reef but well off in 72' of water under the squid. There was a charter boat hammering small bass on umbrellas off downriggers (approx 20' down). Had a couple firsts: Snagged someones line (approx. 100yds of mono - 3 way - 12ounce sinker and a very lively large Doggie (released). Caught a squid on a diamond jig, At slack I was Porgie fishing for bait and caught and released a Giant Porgie (52' of water) caught other bait sized ones as well. Tip: If you are fshing for porgies for bait in deep water make sure that you reel them up very slow (so they don't get their swim bladder bloated - the bass love them lively - also I have been trimming off their sharp dorsal fins for easier swallowing). All in all Nice day on the water.
