Upper Hous -- 9-2-08

Hey guys, I've been away for a while and really haven't had much of a chance to hit the river, and when I have, it's been lackluster results. The hous is real low right about now and most of the places I usually fish are just too shallow so I went out yesterday to a couple of decent holes and tried there. My standard presentation (ribbontail worm drift) was NOT cutting it at all, so I decided to switch up to a bigger/heavier worm. It got down a little more in the current and the bites started to pick up. I decided you can never have too much of a good thing, so I rigged a slider sinker to the front of the rig to get it right down and bouncing along the bottom. That produced results, decent numbers and eh size. I am shore fishing and couldn't hit a couple drop offs that I felt just had to be holding the big ones. Also out of tubes (and I live in the middle of nowhere), so I was held to 8" worms, as I'm running low on seasonal items. I decided to move downstream just a bit and cast into a nice hole, where I had a repeat of last year's river occurrence. This time I managed to get pictures though, so I thought I would post them up! Head was probably 6" wide, and basically I did NOT want to mess with it. He chomped a bunch of the bass I brought in, basically waiting deep right next to me and then zooming up to grab them. The last one he broke the line on and got some dinner from me, but all in all it was pretty cool!

Man, That is cool to have a ring side seat to the Darwin concert..... Nice pics!

Whoa awesome report and AWESOME picture.... That is really somethin. I dont think i would wanna dance with a pike that big either. He looks like he could bite your arm off.
