I think I figured it out

I got an unexpexted call Saturday afternoon from Mark (Just4fun) to meet him down at Cedar Lake. The fishing was dead slow and bites were far and few between , but Mark was fishing his usual stuff. Well little known to him I was paying a lot of attention everytime he picked up the jig. Now the jig has to be the most frustrating bait in the world for me, I know they work, but for somereason they never seem to work for me. Well fast forward to Sunday am. I had to barter with SmallFry to get out Saturday so I told him we'd hit our club pond. Its not known for its bass fishing but there are alot of small ones, well Sunday started off just as slow as Saturday. We worked our way up and didn't get a bite until we were about 3/4 of the way up. We hit the north end and I remember another buddy of mine just pounding them on the jig there so I grab the jigging rod. Not expecting to get bit, cause I never do, I get bit but loose it. I can't say how many I missed but it was disgusting. Pull off to another area with nothing going on for a bit, clear my head, tell myself I'm going back and getting a fish on the jig. Now if you've ever fished with Mark I'm sure you've noticed the swing on his hookset. With that hookset in mind I pitched into a laydown never did feel the bite but there was a slight bit of movement and the line got heavy and I swung that rod from about 7 o'clock up and around to 5 o'clock, I could see terror on the face of that fish as he came up from behind the log. He was airboune and in the boat before he even had a chance to get off. My first jig fish in over a year! But the best part was by the time I left I was throwing it with confidence. Thanks Mark for getting me out Saturday, a) I needed it, b) you made me think about the jig and I think I finally broke that barrier!

Confidence in throwing the jig: priceless. Congrats. Now you can spend all winter long buying hundreds of dollars worth of pig/jig stuff in anticipation of next year, not to say anything about this year.
