Struggling in the fall
Message:
Hey guys! I havent posted in a while but i have been on the water just about every weekend. As I mentioned before this is my first season really getting into bass fishing and Im very muched hooked (no pun intended). Because of your guys great tips Ive made alot of progress over the summer and hope to fish some tournaments with you guys when I get to that level. I think I still have a ways to go before I would be a worthy tournament partner. I was having good luck durring the summer w/ senkos, tubes, and the occasional spinner or buzz. But since the fall has come I strugle to get even one on most days. From what Ive been reading from this bass book I guess I have to fish the deeper weed edges but I dont have any kind of sonar or fish finder yet to find deep water structures. Just my depth finder which I use to find the drop off points. But still get nothing but the occasional lucky hit. Just wondering if theres any advice anyone can give to help breath some life back into my rapidly declining confidence at this.... dare I say.... new passion of mine. Sorry if Im sounding too dramatic. It just suks getting skunked every weekend.

Hey New Guy, First of all, you need to invest in some nice electronics, ask santa for a nice Garmin, Hummingbird, or Lowrance unit, or tell everybody to get you Bass pro shops gift cards for christmas, pool them together and get the best one you can afford. The name of the game in Fall when the water temps fall below 60 degrees is either super fast moving baits like buzzbaits over shallow weeds, rattle traps or spinnerbaits over deeper weedbeds, or slow way down, I mean so slow that it kills you with boredome. Try a drop shot rig over deep rockpiles, a blade bait or spoon vertically jigged, a deep shakey head worm, the carolina rig, a jig, a tube, or a super fluke or jerkbait. All the above can put fish in the boat in Fall, but the key is finding the baitfish, and without good electronics your fishing blind. Good luck, I hope this helps...... :D
