Beach pond 5/13/09
Message:
Had a short trip to Beach pond today. Launched at 7 AM and there was a lot of fog coming off of the water at first but eventually burned off. Water temp started off at 58 and got to 61 when I got off the water at 11 AM. I decided to target smallies mainly. I went down the shore looking for beds. I saw a bunch of empty ones. So I went to a few of my spots that I know that are productive for awhile. Got the drop-shot out and got 2 LMB on a 4"cut-tail worm. Now the fog goes away. Cranked the shore with a bandit 200 series crankbait and hooked up with a few Smallies between 1 1/2 and 2 LBS. I am still seeing empty beds so I tie one a small Luckycraft pointer the one with the slots cut in it with a dressed trebble. Fish on. Got a few fish on this lure and had a huge trout follow it to the boat. Now the sun is up a bit higher and the fish are returning to the beds.I threw a ultra finese tube with a 1/8 oz tube jig head. I was able to get a few on this lure also. Just the usual tactics .. make the smallie mad so he crushes it. They didn't hit the tube so hard. Not really locked up and protective as they usually are on a bed. Overall 15 smallies nothing huge and a few LMB. A nice few hours out on the water.
