CT River 5/30

I decided to go fishing for a little while with my father yesterday. We started out at Pratt Cove on an incoming tide. He tossed a small yozuri jerk bait under the bridge and let it sit in the current, I was on the other side, and I hear a big splash. I look over and he's got a good one. [img:959b1672ab]http://www.ctfishtalk.com/gallery2.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=5714[/img:959b1672ab] He caught it using a small push button reel, a 4'8" ugly stick rigged with 4lb test. He swears by those push button reels, he won't use anything else but I guess it works. This fish took him under a rock, and stayed there for a while, he finally pulls it out, and fights it some more. I'm trying to land the fish for him, meanwhile he slips and falls down. I finally lipped the bass, and it was a good one. Unfortunately he forgot to check his line afterwards, and the next cast the lure snapped off in the air. After fishing there a little while longer, we moved on to DR Docks where he ended up with another nice bass caught on a tube jig. He was vertically jigging in between two rocks. Me on the other hand, I got one sunny... i guess it's better than nothing, but shit did he school me! Went later in the day with Esox, where I managed to redeem myself a little bit with a bass. We went today for a bit, but I'm sure he'll do the report, so that soon to come.

I can't believe he got that lunker on that little Yozuri minnow, and on 4 lb test! Right place at the right time I guess. We should get dad to join the site too.
