Black Pond 6/17 & 6/18 bass...they are in there
Message:
Location: Black Pond Meriden, CT
June 17th: Partly Cloudy, air temp 70's, water temp mid to upper 60's.
I walked the wooded path out till just before the rock slope and started throwing zoom lizards. Just picked up an assortment box and started working with a green pumkin red http://www.orderoutdoors.com/zoom/202.jpg . As I worked my way back to the parking lot I caught 2 Large mouth bass at separate locations. The first one was at the end of the little stream that empties out in the pond while the second was a little further down. With a grumbling in my stomach I decided to head home. 17:00-19:30 didn't hook anything until around 18:15. I originally started off with a couple of other lures but the wind was too strong and no bites.
June 18th: Rain and more rain. air temp low 50's. water temp mid 60's
I had taken the day off because of my crohn's acting up but by mid morning I was feeling better. so around 12:30 I suited up and headed back out to the pond to try a different color this time watermelon candy http://www.orderoutdoors.com/zoom/120.jpg did the same deal walked all the way down until the tree line broke then worked my way back. I cast both straight out and followed the shore line. caught two bass casting straight out in separate locations not more than 50 ft from each other...they must have gone a little deeper due to the rain.
At one particular spot where the rocks come off the hill and into the pond I was noticing the sunfish nipping at my lizard each time I was reeling in which gave me false readings thinking I had something hooked..but no they just wanted to eat a leg or tail..so I grabbed my ultra lite that I brought with me and gave 15 of those buggers sore mouth until they left my lizard alone. If anyone eats those guys there are some pretty good size ones out there. like 6-9 inches but you have to do a little walking.
I also hooked another bass but it got away.
3 bass were under 1lb, the last was just a little over.
my first report, hope you enjoyed.

Nice report shaggs. Way to find them.
Again, much better quality at Beseck Lake, just not much shoreline access.
