first time at candlewood 9/12/09
Message:
Went to Candlewood for my first time with FordPerf. Launched out of Lattins cove and headed North up the lake. Not very familiar with the area, but we mostly fished up and towards the left around rocky points near various islands.
Got on the water at 7:35 and were fishing by 7:45am. Air temp cool, maybe 55 at the start getting to maybe 70 max later in the day. Skies were cloudy, overcast, with some light rain early on. No idea the water temp, felt luke warm, my guess is around 60-65. Skies remained cloudy and cool but the rain held off as the day went on :)
Tossed out various lures, including dark mini spinners, full size spinners of various color schemes ranging from dark to white to chartruse, various soft plastics, and the "lure of the day", a Mepps black fury #3 colored black and orange.
FordPerf had an off day, catching only 2 fish, one smallie and one sunfish both under a pound. I however, was on FIRE! Got about 12 fish maybe, I stopped counting. Mostly smallmouth, a couple largies, a perch, and a sunfish. Two biggest fish were smallies, one going about 3+ and the other 4 + or maybe even 5lbs. I'll post a pic of the biggest Smallie once I get home from work tomorrow so you can let me know what you guys think it weighed.
Speaking of weighing fish, I've got this P.O.S. spring loaded scale with that crappy lip hook. It's not accurate and any fish with actual size won't stay on that useless hook. What are you guys using to weigh your fish out when you're on the water??
Overall a great day on the water and I will definately be going back to Candlewood again, SMALLIES BEWARE!!!

Here is one pic of the big smallie I landed. Not a great pic, but you get the idea.
What you guys think it weighs? My guess is 4- 4.5lbs.
