SPINNERBAITS?
Message:
Just wondering if anyones been using spinnerbaits or buzzbaits this year. I had great luck last year with both but nothing yet this year. Do you think it's too early in the year?

The time of year is fine! I think you can actually go much lower for spinnerbaits,..but I'm certain that anything above 60 degrees is going to be fine for either bait if you throw it on the right lake at the right time!
(For one reason or another, I haven't thrown a spinnerbait too much,..but I have caught several on a buzzbait this year!)

cmorjoe, spinnerbaits can be used year round. There really is no wrong time to use it. Just remember that the weight of the bait along with the combination of blade types (willow/indiana/colorado) dictates how fast or slow and how deep the bait will be running in the water. There are several factors....cloudy day, sunny day, are the fish suspending or deep, the water clarity, time of day day/night, etc. that determines what you should be using. Just go out and get familiar with it and soon you will have the pattern down pat as far as what works on any given day. I fish the spinnerbaits a lot and use them primarily as my search bait because I can cover alot of water with them.
