Hi JW! Went by Colebrook and Hogsback 6 days ago. Colebrook was OPEN WATER from the boat ramp to the Dam. Heard some guys were fishing way north of the ramp for smelt. Hogback showed OPEN HOLES and some OPEN LEADS. Both of these waters can be "REAL IFFY" due to the rise and discharge of the water. Got on Hogback last year and drilled thru 6 to 8 inches of ice about 50 yards out and found water 2 1/2 to 3 feet "BELOW THE ICE :!:" [b:c9ec222df7]I BACKED OFF VERY VERY SLOOOOOWLY :!: [/b:c9ec222df7] Hogback controls the water flow of the Farmington River! If you go BEST :!: to spud your way out every 2 to 3 feet :!: If water doesn't come up the hole [b:c9ec222df7]-> BACK OFF IMMEDIATELY :!: [/b:c9ec222df7] Oh! And have your ICE PICKS ON and a BUDDY WITH A ROPE HANDY :!: Best I info I can give you :!: Best regards, SeaDog1

Thanks SD I've heard of this fluctuation about Hogback and Colebrook too! Though I've heard of this in the past I never care to see this 3' hovering ice act. A little open water is OK by me the fish seem to get lonesome when there isn't anyone out there!!! :? I'll let you know how I made out if I make it back, if not Happy Fishing :D
