Message:
Hi, everyone. Im 14 years old and fairly new to connecticut ice fishing but in general i know my stuff, so to get to the piont i want to plan a trip with my dad soon and i want to target pike, bass, perch, panfish or walleye. Does anybody have lake sugestions and if so, if you had any information on where to fish on the lake i would really aprecieate it. Also baitshop reccomendations are welcomed. Thanks in Advance, Austin.

Hi Austin! Would suggest you get a 2009 copy of the Ct. Anglers Guide. (Most Bait shops still have copies for Free) Go thru it and read up on all the Ct. lakes and ponds listed. It will tell you what fish are available in each pond or lake. Select the waters that you would like to fish, and the fish you want to target! The Ct. DEP also sells a Fisheries guide that has maps and depths of many lakes and ponds here in the state. You can also Google up tips and tactics on how to ice fish for various fish. You'll have to do some of your own research which would be "much faster" then waiting to get answers on any ice fishing forum. REMEMBER :!: to have ALL your Safety Gear with you before going out on ANY ICE :!: Have Fun! Best regards, SeaDog1

Hey Austin. Welcome. SeaDog summed it up perfectly. If you can get a ride to Hartford, or have some web savvy, get the Ct book. Its $20 or so, and its worth every dime. decent maps, all the good lakes, and so on. Just gotta take the fish descriptions with a grain of salt. Another tidbit... Targeting Species is cool, but pike and walleye here in CT, you limit yourself to a half dozen lakes or so. get your bait, and hit any decent sized place you see someone standing on, and have a blast. let us know where abouts you live (just your town is enough info), and maybe someone will shoot back a decent lake relatively close to your town. Not to mention, Walleyes really turn on at dark, and that changes the whole game. Same is true for baitshops. too many to list considering dont know where abouts you are
