Mt. Tom blues
Message:
I have a love hate relationship with Mt. Tom. The trout there are finicky creatures. When the bite is on, it often last for 20 minutes and the limit is reached. There have been days in years past when I scaled back to three deadsticks during "the bite". When I'm returning the fish, I've caught 8-15 trout in a very short time. Other days,,,and most of this year, trout at Mt. Tom have been few and far between. I know they are there since I am picking them up in their usual areas on the finder. The only thing I can think of is Mt. Tom gets more pressure this year then usual. Haven't hit a salmon yet but am not targeting them really since they cruise in the upper water column of deeper waters.
Was there today..ice was thick but not black. Was pretty mottled all the way down. I stayed in the shallows. I did not feel comfortable enough to journey out further on the snow covered lake. One other guy out deeper had no issues today. No fish.
