Smelting

Can anyone shed some light on success with Smelting in the Ct.. Ma. area? We were at Lake Onata in Pittsfield, Ma yesterday and could not buy a smelt and in speaking with others on the Lake, no one had success. (Maybe Seadog can help with this). A funny note, vehicles were all over this Lake and we had between 15-18 inches of ice. We were at Colebrook last week and picked up five smelt over 4 hours. Tight Lines! :D

SeaDog is perhaps your best source. I do know that Smelt are few and far between in CT waters. As far as trucks on the ice... I like my truck far too much to drive it over any body of water that didnt have a structure that was supported by steel girders beneath it! . Dont care how thick the ice is!! Thanks to the Good Lord, i have 2 legs capable of walking out on the ice.
