Subject:
Housatonic river state boat ramp
Message:
I contacted the Ct. DEP last year about the fate of the boat ramp in Devon and I was told that the ramp would be closed for 8 years due to the I95 project. With the planning of this project do you think they could of put in a temporary ramp somewhere near by??? I used to use this ramp quite often. They could have used some of the saltwater license fee to do this. Oh well, enough crying  Where are you going to put your boat in this and coming years? Stratford and Shelton are sure gonna make out! :x Let me know how you feel!

IF you watch the tide, you can get in over on Court Street. AGain. you are not getting in or out at low tide, or with a large vessel. Ive never tried it during summer, but there is a ramp over by Birds Eye, there is also one near Tomiko's. I think they charge to launch there. Not sure how far you wanna run, but there is another ramp way up river past the Sikorsky Prop Testing facility.

Thanks Fishinschmoe for that info. Sounds like you know the river. The ramp north of Sikorsky is Sunnyside rec. area owned and run by the town of Shelton. there is a dayly launch fee based on the size of your boat and no overnight parking. Birdseye ramp is owned and run by the city of Stratford. last time I checked the non-resident yearly fee was $125 but this was a couple years ago. Is Court St. ,the ramp in Milford that is in the marshes? If so there is no water at low tide, all mud. Is Tomiko the resteraunt on the river with the ramp bettween it and the condos? Thanks again! Anyone else with any info please lay it on me because Stripers are in the river and I`m ready to fish!
