Got on after the storm passed around 3:15. Spent a little over 2+ hours on the water and managed 10 fish. An excellent sized pickerel, one barely large enough for a hot dog roll and 8 bass, 7 of which were keepers. All fish came from 7 fow on a drop shot rig using a black grape finesse worm. Water temps were around 62. Wind at first was light out of the north but then became crazy probably around 40 mph the end of the trip. Too much wind to see beds well, and we only checked the north end quickly.

How far above the shot did you tie your hook? I've never used a drop shot rig before. I thought I'd try tying the hook on with a palomar knot about two feet above the shot.

I usually tie the hook about 12 to 16 inches above the weight if the fish are on the bottom. If the fish are suspended higher off the bottom, then you need to attach your hook above where the fish are, because most fish feed looking up they will come up a foot or more for it. If you have your bait well below them they are less likely to see it. I guess it also depends on how deep or shallow the water is where you are dropping your bait or casting your bait to.
