CT River Monday 5/17

Skeeter Jim and I. We hit the river at 7:30am, low tide starting to change to high tide. clear skies air temp 65F water 60F, winds N-NW about 1-3mph We started out Striper fishing the flats about a mile away from the river month. few jumping here and there. I hooked into one but it got off about 20yards for the boat. The bite was slow so we did some bass fishing in Hamberg cove (waived Hi to Al from Reynalds Marine as he was on his way out to demo a center console). Jim caught a few LBS, 1 was around 2lbs, second was a dink. I caught a perch. Moved back to the flats as the tide was higher, not much action. Headed to Salmon river. I hooked into a monster, Jim was thinking it was a Lunker, I thought maybe a schoolie. After a while it got close enough for us to see. Pike, big toothy mamma, I guessed around 6lbs. Never let him in the boat. Headed home around 1:00pm. Plans to go back next Monday, Work the out going tide...
