i havent put a report up in along time but here is one from this morning......... got to the gate at 7:45 to be boat #2. they didnt open the gates until 8:05 and that put us on the water by 8:15. if you ask me the over cast conditions were perfect especially for this body of water. clear water and blue bird skis is never a good mix. it did stay cloudy for most the morning until maybe around 10:30 when some rain finally pushed in. by that time we had hit a few spots and we probably had around 8 fish. all largies with the biggest going around 4lbs that i took on tube in the vicinity of the dam. all the others were in the 1.5lb class with maybe 2 of them going 2lbs. my buddy who does more trout fishing then bass fishing tried drop shotting for the first time.....................didnt last long. he resorted to a crayfish type crankbait and was able to put a few bass in the boat and a very large rock bass. we hit a shoreline that usually produces something for me and it did again today with me ending with another 3 larry's all in the 1.5lb range. by 11:30 the rain was constant and getting heavy. i had gear but my buddy did not. time to bail. off the water by noon and home in warm dry clothes by 1:00. i would have stayed as the bite i had going on the tube was pretty good today. the smallies were MIA this morning. not a one caught. best 5 fish for the morning approx 11-12lbs or so. not bad for really for three hours of actual fishing. i got fish on a DS but most on a tube. found some very nice grass beds in areas i havent really scanned before. marked them on the GPS for another day. water temp 74-75. nice morning and i wish i was still there right now. next time buddy isnt getting in the boat unless he has his gear. :)

Hey, hoppy, for us paddlers, what's the best stretch of shoreline for largemouth bass in McDonough that's not too far from the boat launch ramp? Is the cove to the northwest past the island and the beach any good?

not sure.............never really fished back in there as i was under the impression most times its off limits to boats. i dont spend to much time bank fishing but i have gotten fish just about everywhere on that lake. i believe that back cove is shallower compared to the rest of the lake but again i havent spent any time back there. i like fishing off shore structure and have "my spots" like everyone else does. i have gotten largies and smallies off wood here so thats a good place to start if your fishing shorelines.
