Highland - night fishing
Message:
Friday night, SkeeterJim and I fished Highland from 6:30pm to just after 10:45pm. This was in preparation for this Friday nights Tourney (9pm to 6am). There was an open Tourney going on when we got there, so we tried to say away from them yet find some good spots. We talked to a few of them as we pasted, the bite was good; guys were culling by 8:30. The water was very choppy with all the jet skiers and pleasure crafts. By around 9pm most all of them were off the water and the lake started to clam down. Jim and I tried, top water baits with little results. It seemed the bite was on black War Eagles. I caught one nice sized SMD, pushing 4+. On our way back to the ramp I was using my NEW spot light to look for boats running around with no lights. There was a few of them. Half the way back, I blew a fuse on my Nav lights, which included the spot light. Now we are running in total darkness. Jim quickly jumped into action and tied glow sticks around the boat as I used a flashlight to drive by. It was interesting, the next morning I decided to read the instructions on the stop light; and there is was in the smallest print known to man “Install a 10amp fuse for proper use”. Oooppps. Needles to say, it was changed to a 10amp, and I throw a few extra on the boat for good measure. This was the first night bass fishing trip for me; it was nice, quite and the bite was on. Ron Ok, here is a picture, Not a very good one, it is done with my iPhone. [img:0d782fac05]http://www.ctfishtalk.com/gallery2.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=9856[/img:0d782fac05]

Which War Eagles were working? Jigs, spinners or buzzbaits?

PECo, Spinner bait with the large Colorado blade. They would hit it hard.
