Cleaning surface rust off metal tools
Message:
My Gerber utility pliers/knife/etc.. has some surface rust from not drying it off after a rainy day. I wanted to know of some methods of cleaning and perserving my metal tools and hooks that stay ONLY in my tackle box. Any suggestions?

if you've got surface rust on your equipment I would suggest some very fine grain steel wool to scrape the rust off. You should then be able to treat it with some variety of oil, I'm a big fan of hoppe's number 9 gun oil for everything. It works very well. Make sure you get ALL the rust tho, that stuff is nasty. I cannot endorse this for hooks however. Don't let them get wet :D
