Fishing kayak vs. fishing canoe
Message:
I've started thinking about the ideal small fishing boat. While I've always been a kayak guy, I'm coming around to the idea that a canoe would be the ideal boat. I especially like the look of those 12 to 15 foot solo canoes that weigh from 14 to 30 pounds. I think you could even stand in some of them. Native, Bell and Wenonah all make some hot little fishing canoes.
What do you think?

Well I have a canoe (1973 aluminum square back 13ft) and I think the grass is always greener on the otherside of the fence. I tihnk they both have their ups and downs and applications. I can stand in mine (if im feeling lucky) but if im by myself it takes a lot of man power to get to the other end of the lake(unless i have my electric motor)....the only upside to a canoe that i can think of is that you have room to put all your crap and maybe a fishing buddy or two......but id love a kayak.........

Without a deck, canoes are lighter. The only problem I have with my Hobie Pro Angler is the mass, all 160+ lbs of it. How much does your canoe weigh? Could you imagine fishing with a double-bladed paddle from a 13 foot canoe that weighs less than 30 lbs?
