Farmington Area Report

My wife and I have spent the past week or so fishing a few areas in Farmington. Namely the Reservoir off of Route 6 but also Batterson. We have fished both areas from shore and Batterson is more of a headache than anything else, but my wife managed to pull in a nice bass two nights ago: [img:52f174d487]http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash2/hs132.ash2/39929_607399904049_48809708_34793209_3070_n.jpg[/img:52f174d487][/url] It hit a 3/8 Strike King Bleeding Bait spinner bait in white/red colors at a moderate/fast retrieve. The time was early evening (maybe around 7:45 p.m.). I don't recall the weather. I estimated the fish at between 2.5 and 3.5lbs. The Farmington Reservoir on the other hand had been quite productive for awhile, but the bite seems to have backed off. Note that "the bite" is a relative term, as most of the fish are not even keepers. We did have some success earlier in the week using spinner baits of various colors, generally slow rolling them with the occasional pause. Sorry, everything is with the cell phone camera. On a sad note, it seems both areas have their fair share of poachers... I really wish DEP would run more license/bag checks there more often. I witnessed several small bass that were not possibly 12" go into one fellow's grocery bag. The place really isn't large enough to sustain any taking, let alone illegal taking.

Nice fish! What side were you fishing from the shore at Batterson? Did you park at the boat launch?
